Dark chocolate enriched with extra virgin olive oil, reduces the risk of suffering cardiovascular diseases

The randomised crossover study included 26 volunteers with at least three cardiovascular risk factors (smoking, dyslipidaemia, hypertension, or family history of cardiovascular disease)

Says:

Small daily portions of dark chocolate with added natural polyphenols from extra virgin olive oil was associated with an improved cardiovascular risk profile. The study suggests that extra virgin olive oil might be a good food additive to help preserve our ‘repairing cells’, the EPC.

OL
Mediterranean Diet = Extra virgin olive oil = Health

Fats are one of the three macronutrients essential for life and make up a great part of our organism.

We wouldn’t be able to absorb vitamins A, D, E, or K without fat in our diet. These vitamins are beneficial for our hair and skin and delay the onset of ageing.

Extra virgin olive oil , is rich in monounsaturated fats, mainly (Omega-9) and doesn’t only reduce bad cholesterol (LDL), but increases the good type (HDL)

The polyphenols efound in extra virgin olive oil also act as antioxidants which help in preempting some types of cancer and degenerative illnesses (Alzheimer’s).

The intake of two spoonfuls of olive oil per day can help to reduce the risk of heart disease, the formation of atheramatous plaques and also helps preempt haemorrhages.

It is the healthiest fat which exists, much in evidence in the Mediterranean Diet, and an excellent way of obtaining necessary fats, stimulating the metabolism and reducing by 50% the risk of developing Diabetes Mellitus type II.

The benefits of chocolate
CHOCO
Cocoa = The king of Antioxidants

Dark Chocolate (min 50% cocoa) is a rich source of invaluable antioxidants such as polyphenols, flavenoids, catechins, epicatechins, etc.

It also contains theobromine (the substance responsible for the sensation of pleasure) and some caffeine, which stimulates brain activity.

Antioxidants are very important since they help the body to expel free radicals which are what cause damage to cells through ageing.

Thanks to this, chololate is ideal in the reduction of cholesterol and in lowering high blood pressure besides preventing the onset of cardiovascular diseases. It is also ideal for slowing down ageing.

SAL
Salt = Minerals

Salt flower is very rich in minerals which make it very healthy, minerals such as Zinc, Iron, Iodine, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper and Calcium. Besides containing these essential minerals, it also contains more than 80 oligoelements present in sea water which contribute to a healthy balance in our body.

At the same time, salt regulates the heart rate, extracts the excess of acidity from cells and and prevents cramps.
